It definitely tries to turn the movie into something much more Western-like and traditional for American audiences. Not only is the 12-year-old boy confusingly voiced by an adult James Van Der Beek, but there is new music added to every single scene that originally didn't feature a score. Generally, I try to stick with subs but don't beat myself up if I get sleepy late at night and need to watch the dub instead.Īnyway, I started Castle in the Sky and my god this is the worst dubbed version yet! I thought Cagliostro's was bad due to the change in Lupin's name, but this one is bad on every level. I've been switching back and forth between the subs and dubs out of curiosity.
